Ruthie Mae (Jackson) Walden

Funeral services for Ruthie Mae Walden, 75, of San Antonio, Texas, were held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Doak Springs, Texas with Rev. Johnny Green officiating.

Ruthie Mae (Jackson) Walden was born on June 18, 1942 in Doak Springs, Texas, the daughter of Moulton and Lovie (Nelson) Jackson. She attended St. Paul College in Waco where she received her associates degree and then attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College where she received her nursing certificate. She worked as a medical claims adjuster for many years. Ruthie enjoyed fishing, cooking, shopping, traveling, playing cards and dominoes and taking an occasional trip to Las Vegas to try her luck at the slot machines. She was happiest when she was spending time and playing with her grandchildren. Ruthie’s faith was always an important part of her life and she enjoyed the time she was able to spend at church and with her church family.

Ruthie passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at her home in San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Moulton and Lovie Jackson; her brother, Henry D. Jackson Sr. and her sister, Naomi Sauls.

Ruthie was survived by her two daughters, Linda Davenport and her husband, Lester of Dime Box and Renea Lemon of California; two sons, Eric Walden & his wife, Nore of California and Kenneth Walden of Colorado; eight grandchildren, Tyischa Jackson, Chris Lemon, Channing Tidmore, Camele Tidmore, Colins Lemon, Carmen Lemon, Kenneth Walden and Vincent Walden; two great grandchildren, Tiaya Jackson and Macea Mapp Jackson; one sister, Beauleh Tillmon of San Antonio; two brothers, E.B. Jackson and his wife, Erma of San Antonio and Curtis Jackson of Caldwell, as well as numerous cousins and other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
