Richard Carl Boriack

Funeral services for Richard C. Boriack, 89, of Lincoln, Texas, were held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating.

Richard Carl Boriack, the son of Charles & Ida (Umlang) Boriack, was born on June 25, 1928 in Lincoln, Texas. He was baptized on July 1, 1928 and confirmed on March 29, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas by Rev. Reinhard Osthoff. Richard was united in marriage to Evelyn Malinda Schneider on December 27, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas by Rev. Ludwig Karcher.

Richard graduated with honors from the University of Texas in January of 1951 majoring in math with a minor in education, followed by post graduate work, and received a permanent Teacher’s Certificate. He taught high school math and physics in Weimar, Texas for the next five years. In August of 1956, he left the teaching profession and spent the next 30 years with Tidewater Oil Company which was acquired by Getty Oil Company and then later acquired by Texaco. Richard retired in 1986 and he and Evelyn eventually moved to their farm in Lincoln, Texas in 1990. He was a charter member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas where he held various offices. He was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas where he had served as an elder, vice president of the congregation and a member of the finance board. Richard had also served as a board member for the Lincoln Water Department and had been a member of the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department. He could fix anything that was broken and instilled in his family and others his honesty, integrity, a strong work ethic and an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Richard passed away during the early morning hours of Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell having reached the age of 89 years, 3 months and 3 days.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Michael Boriack; parents, Charles & Ida Boriack; four brothers, Clarence, Martin, Howard and Herbert Boriack; four sisters-in-law, Edna Boriack, Lena Beissert, Frieda Boriack and Mary Lou Schneider and six brothers-in-law, Werner Schneider, Monroe Schneider, Randolph Woelfel, Bernard Schneider, Herman Beissert and Rudy Knippa.

Richard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Boriack of Lincoln; two sons, Robert Boriack & his wife, Jaquita of Carrollton and Donald Boriack & his wife, Karen of Fedor; daughter-in-law, Catherine Boriack of Katy; grandson, Matthew Boriack of Katy and by Robert & Jaquita’s daughters, Brandi Zabojnik & her husband, Lance & their children of Carrollton and Brinca Dirr & her husband, Andy & their children of Plano; two sisters, Lorene Proske & her husband, Lawrence of Lincoln and Jeanette Knippa of Lincoln; three sisters-in-law, Helen Schneider of Dime Box, Marilyn Woelfel of Fedor and Irene Boriack Schneider of Giddings, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
