John William Sullivan

Graveside services for John Sullivan, 79, of Dime Box, Texas, were held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Giddings City Cemetery with Rudy Meyer, Fred Jones, and Tim Pitts officiating.

John William Sullivan was born on March 1, 1938 in Bagwell, Texas to John L. Sullivan and Ruby (Jackson) Sullivan. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Mae (Fogle) Sullivan on June 21, 2003 in Dime Box, Texas. John was employed as an oil field truck driver. John loved taking care of horses, cattle, deer and cats. He enjoyed spending his time outside with family and friends, riding in the Pony Express and going to local rodeos.

John passed away the evening of Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Stanley Sullivan & Freddy Sullivan; four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mae Sullivan of Dime Box; seven children, Mary May of New Boston, Beverly McFarland of Brenham, Johnny Sullivan of Giddings, Patti Rojo and her husband, George of New Boston, Teresa Smith and her husband, Shane of Bryan, Carolyn Wisnieski and her husband, Stephen of Wharton, and Marilyn Meyer & her husband, Randy of Serbin; nineteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, 1315 Barbara Jordan Blvd, Austin, TX 78723, St. Jude’s Children Resource Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, or to a charity of one’s choice.
