Verline Ruth Schulze

Funeral services for Verline Schulze, 86, of Giddings, were held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating.

Verline Ruth (Richter) Schulze was born on October 9, 1930 in Freyburg, Texas, the daughter of Max Carl Richter and Hertha Wilhelmina (Suess) Richter. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Freyburg on December 2, 1930 by Rev. A. Bohot and was confirmed on May 6, 1945 also at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. Louis Hammam. Her confirmation verse was Romans 10:12, “For the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.” On November 3, 1951, Verline was united in marriage to Walter Erwin Schulze at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. Zucker. They were married for 58 years when he preceded her in death on November 27, 2008. Verline was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family. She enjoyed sewing, which she began doing as a child, and did it with ease and great skill. She made all of the clothing for her daughters while they were growing up. Verline was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin where she had been active in the Ladies Aid.

Verline passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Bec’s Blessing in Ledbetter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max & Hertha Richter; her husband, Walter Schulze; her brother, Ruben Richter and two sisters, Doris Sander and her twin sister, Pearly Schuetze.

Verline is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Jane Davis of Austin and Janet Warner & her husband, Robert of Houston; four grandchildren, Jenny Burton & her husband, John of Leander, Lauren Davis of Austin, Steve Kutz of Humble and Sarah Kutz of Houston; three great grandchildren, Kaylee Burton and Priscilla Burton both of Leander and Sophia Quintanilla of Houston; two brothers, Lawrence Richter & his wife, Burnies of Houston and Robert Richter & his wife, Betty of Sealy; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bernice & Helmuth Schuetze of Houston, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the Schulze family recommends making memorial contributions to Bec’s Blessing, 1058 County Road 140, Ledbetter, Texas 78946.

The Schulze family would also like to thank Rebecca Langley and the staff at Bec’s Blessing for the care, concern and attention they showed to Verline during her stay at their facility.
