Liborio “Lobo” Gonzales

Funeral services for Liborio “Lobo” Gonzales, 76, of Giddings, Texas, were held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Uche Andeh officiating.

Liborio Gonzales passed away peacefully surrounded by his family the morning of Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at his home in Giddings.

He was born in Paige, Texas on July 23, 1941 to Andres and Maria Gonzales. He attended Paige Elementary School and graduated from Giddings High School where he was voted by his peers as an outstanding citizen. He also was a pole vault state qualifier his sophomore year, as well as a two year letterman in football and track. After graduating, he enlisted in the Navy serving a three year tour. After his time in the military, he met Carmen Hernandez, the love of his life. They married in 1964 and started a family of their own. He went to work for Alcoa where he retired after 35 years. Pop was a joker and enjoyed the simple things in life such as reading his paper, solving a crossword puzzle, and evening drives in the country with Mom.

He was a family man who provided a strong, solid foundation for his family based on hard work, values and love. He was a 4th Degree Knight and his devotion and faith in the Lord was very strong. He was kind, generous, funny, loving and very brave. He always put family first and touched the lives of many people.

Our memories of him will live in our hearts forever. We love you Pop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A.O. and Maria Gonzales; one sister, Enedina Lopez and six brothers, Milton, Domingo, Antonio, Zacarias, Angel and Albert “Sonny” Gonzales.

Liborio is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carmen Gonzales of Giddings; five children, Judy Boswell & her husband, John of Giddings, Andy Gonzales of Giddings, Juan Gonzales & his wife, Ruthie, of Temecula, California, Bonnie Heilman & her husband, Chad, of Pflugerville and Nicki Padgett & her husband, Ben, of Round Rock; sixteen grandchildren, Andy Mott & his wife, Rocio, Josh Mott, Zachary Mott, Jennifer Mott & her fiance, Jacob Rosas, Micah Boswell, Andrea, Alex, Macie and Kenzi Gonzales, Alyssa and Bella Gonzales, Matthew Humphrey & his wife, Tiffany, Jarrett Butts & his wife, Rayven, Jacob and Joey Satterfield, and Abby Iselt; twelve great grandchildren, Gael, Chase and Braelyn Mott, Averie Gonzales and Markus Bristol, Aubriee and Aydinn Gonzales, Kayelyn and Keelie Humphrey, and Jayden, Ellie, and Jerianna Butts; three brothers, Joe, Santos and Ray Gonzales; three sisters, Rosa “Chita” Rodriguez, Rosario “Chayo Maldonado, and Conception “Connie” Villareal, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorials may be give to the St. Margaret’s Catholic Church Building Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.

The Gonzales family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice (Rosalinda, Priscilla, Tina, Rita and Helen) for their time and loving care that they provided for our father.
