Ernest Ray “Amos” Quinney

Ernest Ray “Amos” Quinney, 88 of Lexington, passed away at his home in Lexington on Friday morning, July 28, 2017.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 31, 2017 in the Forest Grove Christian Church with Pastor Lance Walch of the church officiating.

Amos was born in Lexington on March 15, 1929 to Ernest Clyde “Buck” and Myrtle (Jensen) Quinney. He was a graduate of Lexington High School. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, member of Forest Grove Christian Church and a lifelong fan of the Lexington War Eagles. On September 19, 1962, he and Elaine Watson were married in Giddings. Amos owned Quinney Butane, he sold real estate, cemetery monuments and antiques and held antique auctions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Myrtle Quinney; daughter, Gina Rae Quinney; parents-in-law, Alva and Thelma Watson; nephew, Neal Louis Knipstein; brothers-in-law H.O. Watson and wife Frances, Jack Haack and Louis Knipstein.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Elaine Quinney of Lexington; daughter, Trina Q. Edwards and husband Jack Davis Edwards of Lexington; bonus daughter, Tonie Kay Church and husband Jeff of Lexington; grandson, Timothy Neal Edwards and wife KeeLee of Lexington; his sister, Jessie “Deckie” Knipstein of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Mona Haack of San Antonio and Myrtie Fritcher and husband Robert “Bob” of Lexington.
