Leah Mildred Faske

Funeral services for Leah “Sug” Faske, 78 of Giddings, were held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Chris Nietubicz officiating.

Leah Mildred “Sug” Faske was born on July 3, 1939 in Nashville, Tennessee to Frank & Alpha Dorothy (Roche) Dabbs. She was baptized on October 1, 1951 at First Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee by Rev. W.L. Baker. She was confirmed on June 7, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”.

She was united in marriage to Robert Don Faske on June 7, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. This union was blessed with two sons, Keith & Lawrence.

She and Robert owned Faske & Sons Jewelry for 18 years. Leah was a Sunday school teacher at Pilgrim Lutheran in Houston. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Braille Workers at Immanuel, a member of the Red Hat Society and the German Heritage Society. She enjoyed bowling, roller skating, fishing, hunting, sewing, raising African Violets, rebuilding engines, racing cars, raising animals, as well as spending time with family and friends

Leah passed away the afternoon of Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; one great grandchild, Robert Russell and two brothers, Robert Dabbs, and William Dabbs.

She is survived by her two sons, Keith Allen Faske and his wife, Sheila of Rose City and Lawrence Clark Faske and his wife, Kimberley of Ledbetter; one grandson, Matthew W. Faske and his wife, Danielle of Ledbetter: one brother, John Alan Dabbs and his wife, Ann of Tennessee, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
