The 2017 Relay For Life of Lee County event is fast approaching. The American Cancer Society is calling on all community members to participate in the annual Relay For Life on Friday, June 2, 6 p.m. to midnight, at GHS Buffalo Stadium in Giddings. The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, the event celebrates people who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and takes action for lifesaving change.

Currently there are 20 teams registered for the 2017 Relay For Life of Lee County. If you would like to join the Relay as a volunteer, team participant, survivor, or to give a donation, visit us online at RelayForLife.org/LeeCoTX, or call us at 512- 919-1810.

“I hope everyone will set aside this one evening, June 2, to come to this free community event to cheer on our survivors during the survivor lap, walk the track to show support for those who are battling or have battled cancer, and during the luminaria ceremony remember our loved ones who’ve lost their battle,” said Sandy Birnbaum, co-event leader.

Teams conduct fundraising events prior to the Relay. Watch for flyers and announcements posted on Facebook (Relay For Life of Lee County Texas page). There are also various fundraisers the night of the Relay, including a silent auction. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease today, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations.
