CPRA Rodeo Starts with Barrel Race

The Lee County Texas Stars 4-H has teamed up with Diamond Cross Rodeo Company to bring the 5th Annual CPRA rodeo to the Lexington Homecoming event lineup. The Lee County Texas Stars club is the local 4-H horse club and youth drill team with riders from the surrounding counties. Diamond Cross Rodeo Company is owned by Lexington’s own Wesley McManus.

The non-stop action will include bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer dogging, calf roping, team roping, tie-down roping, women’s breakaway roping, barrel racing and kids’ mutton busting. This fun filled rodeo features two performances: Friday, May 5th and Saturday, May 6th; both nights starting at 7:30pm. Wednesday, May 3rd there will be a 4D barrel race starting at 7:30pm. Slack runs on Thursday, May 4th starting at 7:30pm.

Concessions will be available at the arena Thursday thru Saturday night. Tickets are $10 per person, children ages 6 to 12 are $5, and children ages 5 and under free. Come out, enjoy a true small town rodeo, and support the youth of Lee County.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Horse Club, the only 4-H drill team in Lee or surrounding counties. The members of the drill team are youth from Lee, Milam, Travis, and Bastrop Counties. The funds will be used to continue improvements to their home arena, The Memorial American Legion Rodeo Arena in Lexington; and to support the group at the District and State 4-H Horse shows this summer.
