Lady Eagles Trip Over Rockdale

by Mike Organ

Lexington went into Thursday night’s game a solid favorite to defeat Rockdale. The Lady Tigers had another idea, as they stopped the Eagle offense in defeating the Lady Eagles 3-1.

Lexington scored its only run in the bottom of the second inning after holding Rockdale scoreless the first two at-bats. Madison Stefek singled to center field. Alexis Gonzales walked, to move Stefek to second base. Kynslie Meyer walked, to load the bases. Heaven Von Rosenberg singled to deep short, to score the run. An error running the bases caused a double play to end the threat. No other scoring occurred until the top of the third. A Rockdale single with one out got things started. The runner advanced two bases as the next batter struck out. A single to shortstop tied the score for the Lady Tigers.

Two more singles upped the Lady Tiger lead to 2-1. A double past third scored the final run for the Lady Tigers.

Lexington threatened in the bottom of the fourth. Gonzales doubled and Amanda Zgabay followed with another double, putting runners at second and third with one out. A strike out and a ground out to third base ended the threat.

The rest of the game was basically three up and three down for both teams.
