Four Vehicle Accident on Rainy Day
On Tuesday, April 11, a few minutes past noon, the Sheriff’s Office received multiple 9-1-1 calls advising of a four vehicle accident on Hwy 21 near CR 113. Sgt Liles, Deputy Holloway and Deputy Flores responded and assisted with traffic control. One of the vehicles was an 18-wheeler. Hwy 21 was totally shut down. GVFD and Lincoln Fire Dept were dispatched to assist. Lee County EMS transported two occupants to Brackenridge Hospital.
According to Sgt. Liles, the 18-wheeler was carrying a pile of steel beams, which shifted and went up to the sleeper cab. The tractor trailer rig was being driven by Cody Keith of Arkansas. He was not injured.
John Kennair and Russell Williams, both from Arkansas, were traveling together, one in a one-ton Dodge Ram 3500 and the other in a one-ton Chevrolet Silverado 3500. Neither of them were injured in the crash.
Gregory James, 40 of Giddings, was driving a 1999 Lincoln Continental and was cited for traveling at an unsafe speed. He and his passenger, Grant James, 35, were taken to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin for incapacitating injuries. The initial report indicated that it was raining at the time of the accident.
