Margaret (Margo) Rhodes Maddux

Margo Maddux passed away in Bend, OR, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Houston, TX to Dewey and Coots Rhodes. She lived in Houston until the early eighties. She met her husband, Curt Maddux at a square dance when she was still in high school. They were together 52 years.

Margo and Curt raised their two kids, Kim and Jay in Houston and Austin. Margo had a successful career in Human Resources and Training. After living in Austin for almost twenty years, Margo’s career took them to Nevada, California and Oregon. She retired as VP of HR at Idatech in Bend, OR.

After retiring, Margo and Curt settled in Sun City, a retirement community in Georgetown, TX where they played golf with a variety of groups and so that Margo could be closer to her Mom and sisters.

Margo was an active volunteer in all of the communities she called home. She was Volunteer of the Year for the Porterville, CA Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association in Bend, OR and a board member of the Women’s Golf Association in Sun City/Georgetown, TX. These were just a few of Margo’s accomplishments.

Margo loved playing golf with “the divas”, learning how to play mahjong, taking long walks with her husband, quilting with her sisters, nieces, and daughter, and playing bocce at the beach with her grandchildren.

Margo is survived by her loving husband, Curt Maddux of Bend, OR; daughter, Kim (Matt) Barrett of Bend, OR; son, Brian Jay Maddux of Fresno, CA; grandchildren, Connor, Riley, and Meghan Barrett and Blake and Abby Maddux. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Coots and Fred Rhodes; her sisters, Terrie (Chester) Smith, Sallie (Bill) Spivey, all of Lexington, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Margo touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Her father, Dewey Rhodes, preceded her in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 12:30PM with a gathering afterward in the Fellowship Hall at the Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington, TX.

In remembrance of Margo, donations may be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Margo Rhodes Maddux, PO Box 116, Lexington, TX. 78947.
