John Davidson “J.D.” Turner
John Davidson “J.D.” Turner was born January 12, 1924 in Blue, Texas to John Frank and Lillie Mae (Stanford) Turner. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. During his service time, he and Francis June Godfrey were married on December 29, 1943. He worked as a pot room supervisor at Alcoa in Rockdale. They had lived in Lexington since 1964.
J.D. at the age of 93, passed away Wednesday morning, March 8, 2017 in the Estrella Oaks Care Center in Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents and five siblings.
Surviving are his children, sons, John D. Turner, II and wife Suzanne of Bryan and Justin B. Turner of Lexington; daughters, Gloria Jackson and husband Mark of Georgetown and Brenda Berndt and husband Douglas of Glasco, Kansas; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services were held, March 11, 2017 in the Lexington United Methodist Church with burial in the Burns Cemetery in Blue. Pastor Trey Comstock of the church officiated.
