Tommy Dee Johnson

A gathering to celebrate Tommy’s life and share memories and stories of him will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at The Bullpen in Giddings.

Tommy Dee Johnson was born on February 25, 1957 in Terrell, Texas, the son of J.D. Johnson and Tommie Faye (Lafayette) Johnson. He attended Westwood High School in Palestine. Tommy worked in the oilfield since the early 1980’s. He was a rig supervisor for Tex Lee Operating Company in Giddings for nearly 30 years. Tommy was quite a character in and around the Lee County area. He was known to many by the name “TomCat”. He passed away the evening of Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Always the life of the party, Tommy will be remembered for the joy and laughter he brought to those he was around.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Johnson and his brother, Jimmy “JJ” Johnson.

Tommy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David & Dayna Johnson of Giddings; his grandson, Cooper Johnson of Giddings; his mother, Tommie Faye Johnson of Palestine; his sister, Renee Richards & her husband, Larry of Palestine; two nieces, Tammi Stanaland & her husband, Scott of Elkhart and Nicole Whitener & her husband, Gary, of Palestine, as well as several great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and his many friends.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
