William Ray “SCOOTER” Zwerschke, Jr.

Blue VFD lost one of their own on Christmas weekend. “Scooter” Zwerschke passed away December 24, 2016 at the age of 63. He was born September 20, 1953 in Port Lavaca to William and Virginia Zwerschke, Sr.

“Scooter” dedicated his life to serving the community; he spent many years in the fire service working for fire departments in southern Texas. He worked for years at the Port Lavaca fire department. He was a member of the Blue VFD for the last few years and taught at TEEX at Texas A & M. Most recently he worked for Thigpen Trucking hauling cattle.

He is survived by his father; daughter Sarah Blackmon and husband Brent; sons Connor Hendry and wife Desiree Walker, Bailey Zwerschke and Andy Zwerschke; sisters Terrye Lenhart and Darrell,and Cyndi Baxter and her husband Troy; 7 grandchildren and his constant companion “Trouble”.

Scooter was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Zwerschke.

He was a loving son, father, grandfather and brother.

A Memorial service was held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Grace Funeral Chapel, Port Lavaca.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to Blue Branch Fire Department or Veterinarian School at Texas A & M.
