Clarence Alvin Schoppe

Graveside services for Clarence Schoppe, 91, of Austin, Texas, were held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating.

Clarence Alvin Schoppe was born on September 19, 1925 in Somerville, Texas, the son of August & Minna (Hein) Schoppe. He spent his youth in the Somerville and Lyons area working on the family farm before joining the United States Navy. He married Doris Rebecca Smith on July 27, 1948 in Oceola, Arkansas. After receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he went to work as a radio announcer and electronic engineer for radio stations in the San Antonio and Seguin area before retiring from the FAA in Austin. He also served faithfully as a deacon in the Baptist church.

Clarence passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his home in Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Doris Schoppe and two brothers, Leroy Schoppe and Alton Schoppe.

Clarence is survived by his son, Rickey Schoppe of Bastrop; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Sullivan & Kenneth Sapp of Austin and his granddaughter, Samantha Sullivan-Kellogg & her fiancee, Trevor Hendrick of Austin.
