Shirley Jean Tomich

Funeral services for Shirley Tomich, 82, of Giddings, Texas were held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating.

Shirley Jean Tomich was born on September 21, 1934 in Beeville, Texas, the daughter of Ray & Gladys (Mize) Morgan. She was united in marriage to Don Manning on April 10, 1953. She then married Dick Tomich on October 24, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shirley was a homemaker. Shirley was involved in the Emblem Club, she was a past president of the Federation of Republican Women, she was very active with the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award. She was also a Sunday School teacher, she enjoyed painting and in her later years she was a social media guru.

Shirley passed away during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 1, 2016 at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Gladys Morgan, her husbands, Don Manning and Dick Tomich and her brother-in-law, Jim Stevens.

Shirley is survived by her two children, Chris Manning of Giddings and Ron & Jaime Manning of Giddings; two grandsons, Deacon Manning of Giddings and Mason Manning of Giddings; three brothers, Gerald Morgan and his wife, Janelle of Refugio, Wayne Morgan of Rockport and James Morgan of Giddings; one sister, Janette Stevens of Burnet, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 North Grimes Street, Giddings, Texas, or to the charity of one’s choice.
