James “Jim” Fred Foerster

Funeral services for James “Jim” Foerster, 79, of Manheim, Texas, were held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas with Rev. Herb Keistman officiating.

James Fred Foerster was born on July 7, 1937 in Lincoln, Texas to Alvin and Lucy (Umlang) Foerster. He was baptized on July 18, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas by Rev. Reinhard Osthoff and confirmed on March 18, 1951 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas by Rev. August Horn. His confirmation verse was Proverbs 23:26, “My son give me your heart and let your eyes observe my ways”. James was united in marriage to Eunice Symmank on September 23, 1961 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim by Rev. Ewald Recks. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Rhonda and Kevin.

James stayed and farmed with his parents in Manheim until moving to Houston where he worked for National Flame and Commercial Honing Company. In 1977, James moved back to Manheim with his family and was a truck driver for P&O Falco and later became a gauger for Koch Oil Company. After taking an early retirement from Koch Oil, he started his own trucking company known as Jim’s Sand and Gravel and was later joined by his son, Kevin.

James entered Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings on October 16, 2015 due to his weakness in taking dialysis and other health issues. He was transferred to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan on August 10, 2016. From there he was transferred to the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility where the good Lord called him home during the early morning hours of Saturday, August 20, 2016 having reached the age of 79 years, 1 month and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lucy Foerster; his brother, Ronnie Foerster; his sisterin law, Audrey Symmank, his brother-in-law, Eddie Symmank; his nephew, Jerry Symmank and his great niece, Natalie Cones.

James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eunice Foerster of Manheim; his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda & Darvin Lehmann of Manheim; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin & Krista Foerster of Giddings; three grandchildren, Lashelle Keith and her husband, Dustin, and Trent and Brooke Foerster; one great grandchild, Kylie Keith; one brother, Dennis Foerster & his wife, Joyce of Giddings; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Milton & Ruby Wachsmann of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Earl Symmank of Paige; sister-in-law, Carolyn Symmank of Paige, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
