Judy Katherine Schimank

Funeral services for Judy Schimank, 62, of Giddings, Texas, were held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating.

Judy Katherine (Morris) Schimank was born on September 23, 1953 in Giddings, Texas, the daughter of John Thomas Morris and Wilma Faye (Reed) Morris. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Lexington and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1972 and was united in marriage to James Schimank on June 10, 1972 at the First Baptist Church in Lexington by Rev. Lee Ramsour. Judy and her family owned and operated Lincoln Fertilizer for 25 years and she most recently worked at Lowes Home Improvement in Bastrop for the past nine years. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln where she had served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She volunteered with the Lee County Relay for Life where she and her family participated as the “All in the Family” team. Judy enjoyed crafting, cooking, taking care of her flowers, gardening, playing Bunko and shopping. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her kids and grandchildren. Judy waged a hard fought battle against cancer with her family, friends and community at her side. She lost that battle, still surrounded by her family, the afternoon of Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Faye Morris; her in-laws, Victor and Mary Schimank; her brother-in-law, Farrell Behrens and two nieces, Chelsea Schimank and Hanna Gallipp.

Judy is survived by her husband, James Schimank of Giddings; three children, Paula Schimank of Giddings, Annie Beasley & her husband, Tim of Giddings and John Schimank & his wife, Emily of Giddings; four grandchildren, Sierra and Ayden Beasley and Paxton and Dawson Schimank all of Giddings; two sisters, Linda Proske & her husband, Gerhard, Jr. of Giddings and Peggy Schimank & her husband, Eugene of Giddings; one brother, Tommy Morris & his wife, Debbie of Lexington; one sister-in-law, Bea Behrens of Giddings; four brothers-in-law, Eugene Schimank & his wife, Peggy of Giddings, Clyde “Shorty” Schimank & his wife, Sandra of Serbin, Stanley Schimank & his wife, Cindy of Giddings and Stephen Schimank & his wife, Sherri of Giddings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
