Grady J. Pennell

Graveside services for Grady Pennell, 90, formerly of Lexington, were held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Lexington Cemetery with Rev. Trey Comstock officiating. Military honors were provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276. Visitation was held on Sunday, July 24, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Grady was born on August, 1, 1925 in Statesville, North Carolina to Willie and Lula (Pennell) Poarch. He served our country in World War II from June 1, 1943 before receiving his Honorable Discharge on January 7, 1949. Grady married Odie Crisler on August 10,1989 in Lexington. He was employed as a bellman for various hotels. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Grady passed away the evening of Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Heartland Healthcare Center of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Grady is survived by his three children: Grady Pennell, Jr. and wife, Pat, of Eagle River, Alaska, Jeff Pennell and wife, Hellen, of Austin and Julie Pennell of Caldwell; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two step daughters, Sherry Green and husband, Randy and Charlene Ely; one step-son, John Pennell.
