Yvonne Yount

Services for Yvonne Yount, 80 of Rockdale were held Friday, June 17, 2016 in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Dr. Andy Pate of First Christian Church in Rockdale officiated.

Yvonne was born October 2, 1935 in San Pedro, California to Willie Boy and Lucille G. (Arledge) Williams. She was a graduate of Thorndale High School and Durham’s Business School in Austin. She worked as an office secretary for several businesses in Rockdale, Richards Clinic, Rockdale State Bank, Brady’s Pest Control and W.T. Pearson. On May 1, 1955, she and David Yount were married in the San Gabriel Christian Church in San Gabriel. She was a member of First Christian Church in Rockdale, was an Elder and had served in many capacities with the church. She was a member of Crown Garden Club and President for many years. She enjoyed bird watching and identifying birds. For many years she was a member of Cornell University’s Backyard Bird Count Program laboratory of ornithology. She spent many hours counting and identifying migratory birds, charting and keeping records for the program. She sang with the Rockdale Community Choir for six years. She loved to sing church hymns and sang in the choir at First Christian Church for many years. But, nothing surpassed her delight than being with her family. She loved it all, Christmas, birthdays, baseball games, football games, and vacations together. Until time ran out – She would say “you all go, have a good time, be careful.”

Yvonne passed away in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Boy and Lucille Williams; two sisters, Carolyn Burford and Betty Jo Williams and a brother, Willie Lee Williams.

Surviving are her husband, David Yount of Rockdale; Son, Brett Yount and wife Jennifer of Tucson, Arizona; four daughters, Robin Faulkner and husband Jim of Rockdale, Julie Thaler and husband Brent of Fairfield, Marilyn Cates and husband Ernie of Rockdale and Carolyn Hoyle and husband Albert of Austin; two brothers, Larry Williams and wife Sissy of Rockdale and Bill Williams and wife Sally of Fredericksburg; brother-in-law, Frank Burford of Rockdale; nine grandchildren, Kevin Thaler, Katie Randall, Lincoln Faulkner, Sterling Faulkner, Ernest Cates, III, Eddie Cates, Elliot Cates, Alex Yount and Erin Yount; ten great-grandchildren, Madison Thaler, Avery Thaler, Gavin Thaler, Nolan Thaler, Kynlee Randall Keaton Randall, Karter Ferguson, Henry Cates, Alice Cates and Abby Yount.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Kevin Brent Thaler, Ernest Ray Cates, III, Charles Edward Cates, William Elliot Cates, Lincoln Emerson Faulkner and Sterling Layne Faulkner.
