Dolores Jeanette Drews

Graveside services for Dolores “Nana” Drews, 93, of Austin, Texas, were held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings with Rev. Dave Schroder of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin officiating.

Dolores passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center in Round Rock, Texas.

Dolores Jeanette (Heyser) Drews was born on December 1, 1922 in Giddings, Texas, the daughter of Sam & Cecelia (Preuss) Heyser. She was baptized on January 21, 1923 and later confirmed by Pastor G.W. Fischer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. Dolores attended elementary school in Giddings and graduated from Giddings High School in 1940 and then attended Nixon-Clay Business College in Austin.

On September 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leonard “Rooster” Drews at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Max Studtmann officiating. Dolores and Leonard were blessed with one child, Dennis “Chick” Drews of Pflugerville, Texas. She was also blessed with a wonderful loving daughter-in-law, Patti Drews. Dolores adored and was so proud of her two granddaughters, Haley and Hannah and all six of her great grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Sam & Cecilia Heyser; her husband, Leonard “Rooster” Drews and her first born great granddaughter, Bailey McLeod.

Her survivors include her son, Dennis and his wife, Patti of Pflugerville; her two granddaughters, Haley and her husband, Billy McLeod of Ft. Worth, Texas and Hannah and her husband, Clayton Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five great grandchildren, Hayes and Hix McLeod and Spencer, Cora and Hadley Smith; her sister, Carma Jean Luker and her husband, Martin Luker and their daughter, her niece, Julie Luker and numerous other relatives and friends. Dolores is also survived by her dog and companion, Rose.

Dolores has been joyfully reunited with her parents, her husband, her great granddaughter, Bailey and many relatives and friends in heaven.

She was a wonderful, kind and caring woman and will be missed by many!
