David “Dave” Ronald Ward

Funeral services for Dave Ward, 66, of Lincoln, Texas were held Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

David Ronald Ward was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 3, 1949, the son of David and Beatrice (Goebel) Ward. He was baptized on September 12, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur by Rev. T. Harms and confirmed on April 7, 1963 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Houston by Rev. George Steincamp. His confirmation verse was John 8:31-32, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” He married Linda Webb on February 19, 1966 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Houston.

Dave graduated from Spring Woods High School in Houston and went on to become an electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 716 for 18 years. After moving to Giddings in 1980, Dave went to work at Alcoa where he worked until retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He spent many hours working with the youth of Lee County as the sponsor of the 4-H Rifle Team. Dave also volunteered with the Blue Santa Program for many years and loved seeing the smiles on kids’ faces each year. He enjoyed making gumbo for an annual scholarship established in his son’s memory.

Dave passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at his home in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of 50 years; mother, Beatrice Ward; son, Jason and wife Lesley; daughter-in law, Brenda Ward; sister and brother-in-law, Karen & Robert Winter; grandchildren, Brittni, Dalton and Briley Ward and numerous other friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dave Ward and son, D. Paul Ward.

Serving as pallbearers were William Wueller, Charles Wueller, Ralph Wueller, Mark Winter, Dalton Ward and Briley Ward.
