Edward “Bud” Carl Bohl

Funeral services for Edward “Bud” Bohl, 93 of Lexington, were held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Burial followed in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Edward Carl Bohl was born on October 3, 1922 in Caldwell, Texas to Frank & Martha (Ahrendt) Bohl. He was baptized on December 24, 1922 and confirmed on September 12, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lexington.

He married Vila Joy McKee on September 13, 1947 in San Antonio. They were blessed with two daughters, Pamela and Sherry. Joy preceded him in death on November 14, 1994 after 47 years of marriage.

Edward served in the U.S. Army from August 4, 1943 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on February 6, 1946. While in the Army, he served in New Guinea, the Southern Philippines and Luzon. Edward retired after 30 years of service with the U.S. Air Force Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, where he was the supervisor of paints, plastic and wood shop.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington and the Sons of Hermann Harmonia Lodge #1. Edward enjoyed fishing, carpentry work and spending time with his great grandchildren. He passed away the afternoon of Monday, December 28, 2015 at his home in Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Martha Bohl; his wife, Joy Bohl; two brothers, Fred Bohl and Frank Bohl Jr. and a sister, Bertha Powitsky.

Edward is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Fails of Lexington and Sherry Bohl of Lexington; two grandsons, Douglas Fails of Austin and Bryan Fails & his wife, Amanda of Lexington; five great grandchildren, Alice Fails, Sabrina Fails and Josey Fails all of Lexington and Andrew Fails and Peyton Fails both of Manor, and a cousin, Jack Bohl & his wife, Connie of Austin.

Pallbearers were Bryan Fails, Michael Glover, Michael Griffith, Chris Urban, Frank Ellett and Robert Feller. Honorary pallbearer was Doug Fails.
