David Randall Dunkin

Funeral services for David Dunkin, 55 of Giddings, were held Monday, January 4, 2016 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Brother Terry Kennedy officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

David Randall Dunkin was born on March 29, 1960 in El Paso, Texas to James Wesley Dunkin and Lela Josephine (Jones) Dunkin. He served in the U.S. Army and received his Masters Degree from the University of Texas in Austin where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. David was a substance abuse counselor with Bluebonnet Trails and volunteered his time and talents with Habitat for Humanity and many other groups that assisted the less fortunate. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, volunteering, learning new things and spending time with his children and grandchildren. David will be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to assist anyone in need.

He passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at his home in Giddings.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Perry Cross and his sister, Darlene Dunkin.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christi & Jeff Murray of Giddings; his son and daughter-in-law, James “Bubba” & Asia Dunkin of Arkansas; twelve grandchildren, Bryhanna Murray, Shelby Harris, Jordan Murray, Katie Harris, Lindsay Harris, Hunter Murray, Brytni Dunkin, Kaleb Dunkin, Alexis Dunkin, Codie Murray, Whitney Dunkin and James Dunkin II; two brothers, Joe Dunkin of Waco and Michael Ray Martin of Houston; two sisters, Karen
