Rev. Donald “Don” Wayne Groff

Funeral services for Rev. Donald “Don” Groff, 54 of Giddings, Texas, were held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the First Assembly of God in Giddings with Rev. Charles Stephens officiating. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. at the Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands, Texas with Rev. Jackson officiating.

Donald Wayne Groff was born on October 14, 1961 in Massachusetts to Donald Leroy Groff and Betty (McKinney) Groff. He was united in marriage to Alicia Cowman on November 28, 2008 in Sugarland, Texas. Don served as pastor of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Giddings and was the South Texas UPCI Austin Metro Children’s Coordinator. He will be fondly remembered as “Mr. Buttons” while spending many years doing children’s ministry. Don also owned Groff Renovations and enjoyed traveling to Texas Tech and ministering to youth.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Leroy Groff; his step-father, Leon Bell and his brother, Lonnie Bell.

Don is survived by his wife, Alicia Groff of Giddings; children, Donald Groff and his wife, Kassi of Highlands, Brandy Deluna and her husband, Richard of Highlands, and Dustin Groff and his wife, Candace of Highlands; his mother, Betty Bell of Highlands; stepdaughter, Christina Cowan of Pearland; step-son, Joshua Cowan of Austin; six grandchildren, Drake, Klare, Kloe, Marissa, Makenzie and Deanna; two sisters, Sharon Garcia of Channelview and Betty Rosenbaum of Highlands; one brother, Lance Bell of Channelview as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Giddings or to the charity of one’s choice.
