Bertha “Betty” Marie Mitschke

Funeral services for Bertha “Betty” Mitschke, 81 of Lincoln, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas with Rev. Herb Keistman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Bertha Marie (Urban) Mitschke was born on February 8, 1934 in Manheim, Texas to Gerhard J. Urban and Louise Marie (Faske) Urban. She was baptized on February 24, 1932 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim by Rev. C.W. Rische and confirmed on April 10, 1949 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church by Rev. P.G. Brust. Betty was united in marriage to Herbert Ernst Mitschke on July 15, 1951 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church by Rev. Ludwig Karcher. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing dominoes and she and several friends met every Thursday to play at Walch Store. Betty will be remembered for her excellent cooking, her noodle making skills, her love of reading and her enjoyment in watching Wheel of Fortune. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends.

Betty passed away the morning of Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan following a sudden illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard & Louise Urban; her husband, Herbert Mitschke and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

She is surivived by her two sons, Herb Mitschke & his wife, Yvonne of Lincoln and Harvey “Shorty” Mitschke of Lincoln; her daughter, Sandra Exner & her husband, Carl of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Jessica Mueller & her husband, Chris of Paige, Amy Meurin & her husband, Jonathan of Lincoln, Casi Mitschke of Houston, Kurt Mitschke of Austin, Candace Schimank & her husband, Nathan of Fedor, Craig Exner & his wife, Cheree of Lincoln and Keith Exner & his wife, Heidi of Lincoln; eight great grandchildren, Blaine Mueller of Paige, Tyler Robertson of Lincoln, Kyndal Meurin of Lincoln, Clay Schimank of Fedor, Colt Schimank of Fedor, Baylen Exner of Lincoln, Kellan Exner of Lincoln and Daeghyn Exner of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Edward Mitschke & his wife, Joyce of Giddings; sister-in-law, Donna Mitschke of Jersey Village as well as several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kurt Mitschke, Chris Mueller, Jonathan Meurin, Nathan Schimank, Craig Exner, Keith Exner and Alvin Hannes Jr.
