Robert “Bob” Pereboom

Funeral services for Robert Lee “Bob” Pereboom, 84 of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Greg Gaskamp officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

Robert “Bob” Pereboom was born on April 5, 1931 in Enid, Oklahoma to Herman & Julia (Hamm) Pereboom. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 1, 1950 and received his Honorable Discharge on June 5, 1952 having obtained the rank of Corporal in the 189th Field Artillery Unit and served during the Korean Conflict. He attended Philips University in Enid, OK where he received his Bachelor Degree in Mathematics. Bob was united in marriage to Evelyn “Tina” Cockerham on March 11, 1985 in Houston, TX. He worked for NASA in Houston for many years as a Data Processing Manager and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Giddings. Bob enjoyed working on two key projects in his career, the Apollo and Gemini missions. He also enjoyed gardening, building and remodeling houses, bowling, playing the piano, traveling and spending time with his family.

Bob passed away the morning of Monday, September 7, 2015 at St. Marks Medical Center in La Grange, TX with his wife by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Julia Pereboom; and his sister Velma Ruth Roggow.

Bob is survived by his wife, Tina Pereboom of Giddings; six children, Stephanae Harrelson of Devine and Robert & Penelope Pereboom of New Braunfels, Karen Strawder
