Melinda “Mo” Ojeda

Funeral services for Melinda “Mo” Ojeda, 59 of Giddings, are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Burial will follow in the Lockhart Municipal Burial Park in Lockhart, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Melinda Kathleen (Taylor) Ojeda was born on August 3, 1956 in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Richard & Georgia (Lindsey) Taylor. She graduated from Del Valle High School in 1974. Mo worked in automobile financing for many years and had been employed at several area automobile dealerships, including Josh Marshall Chevrolet and Ultimate Ford in Giddings. She married Michael Schramm on January 20, 2012. Mo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Giddings and had been a member of the Giddings New Horizons Lions Club where she had been active with the Leo Club. She loved spending time with her two grandbabies, spoiling them and smothering them with love. She also enjoyed dancing, needlepoint, antiques, taking in stray animals and studying her family’s genealogy. Mo had the ability to light up a room from the moment she entered it.

She passed away unexpectedly the morning of Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Brenham, Texas.

Mo was preceded in death by her grandparents; Homer and Jess Lindsey; her father, Richard Taylor; two step fathers, Gary Frazer and W.L. Sosebee, and an aunt, Jess Marie Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Schramm of Lincoln; two daughters, Priscilla Ojeda & Buddy Villanueva of Austin and Jess Ojeda & Joseph Janda of Giddings; her mother, Georgia Sosebee of Del Valle; two grandchildren, Alexis & Brenden of Giddings; the father of her daughters, Sixto Ojeda of Giddings; three sisters, Jennifer Taylor of Del Valle, Michel & Mark Lozen of Austin and Amy & Hector Mendez of Del Valle; brother, Larry Frazer & Maria Laffey of Florida; Aunt, Maude Mary Meads of Rockdale; uncle, Benjamin Lindsey of Austin, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to help the family offset final expenses. Contributions can be mailed to the Ojeda family in care of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, 588 North Main Street, Giddings, Texas 78942.
