Linda (Creamer) Kidd

Linda Edith (Creamer) Kidd was born January 8, 1954 in San Diego, California and went home to our Lord on August 5, 2015, where she is wrapped in God’s love for eternity.

An irrepressibly joyful and uplifting person, Linda loved to laugh, smile and chat.

She was a member of the Blue United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. A cheerful volunteer, Linda gave many hours of her time to the LBJ Library and the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin. Linda worked every SXSW for more than 20 years, and her family has been blessed to know how much the organizers cherished her reliable knowledge and smile, year after year at the festival. She also volunteered locally.

Linda had a beautiful singing voice and sang with her high school choir, as well as many church choirs, including the University Baptist Church in Austin and the Blue United Methodist Choirs. She sang with the Austin Civic Chorus and also, was a member of the Morris Veachy Singers with her husband, Johnny Kidd. Linda sang in all her siblings’ weddings, and at countless concerts, church services and theatre productions over the years. Her lovely voice is now adding to God’s heavenly chorus and increasing its beauty and joy.

Linda was an expert at crochet, and belonged to a yarn exchange online, which helped her make friends all over the world. She created and gave away hundreds of afghans and scarves throughout her life.

As a child in a military family, Linda spent her childhood in Hawaii, California, Florida, and Washington before moving with her family to Austin in 1967. Linda loved animals and was a trailblazer in Austin, where she was the first female member of the Future Farmers of America in Crockett High School. She graduated from Crockett in 1972. She was active in church and choir and worked as a medical records secretary for the Brown Schools and later, at Seton Hospitals, in Austin.

After meeting at University Baptist Church, Linda married Johnny Kidd on July 4, 1996. They lived in Austin for many years, and have been residents of Blue, Texas for the past 6 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Creamer, Linda is survived by her husband, Johnny Kidd, two sisters, Mary Becquet of San Antonio, Texas and Margaret Creamer of Fredericksburg, Texas, as well as one brother, Robert Creamer of Placerville, California.

Funeral services will be held for Linda Kidd on August 21, 2015 at Blue United Methodist Church at 10am.

Donations would be gratefully accepted to assist with bills and funeral expenses, in care of the Linda Kidd Benefit Fund at Round Top Bank in Lexington.
