John Joe Foerster

John Joe Foerster was born on January 13, 1929 in Giddings, Texas to Joseph Fredrick Foerster and Hulda Louise (Lerche) Foerster. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received his Honorable Discharge on December 30, 1952 having obtained the rank of Private First Class. John was united in marriage to Lillie (Bohot) Newsom. He was a retired truck driver with Southern Pacific Railroad and a member of the First Baptist Church in Giddings. He passed away the morning of Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Jeanene Newsom; his granddaughter-in-law, Kathy Newsom; his brother, Arvel Foerster and his sister, Pearlie Jordon.

John is survived by his wife, Lillie Foerster of Giddings; three grandchildren, Shawn Newsom & his wife, Rachael of Granger, Shelly Newsom Stautz & her husband, Dennis, of Taylor, and Shannon Newsom & his wife, Michelle of Taylor; ten great grandchildren, Shane, Dylan and Kyle Newsom and Mikayla Larremore, Brandon, Justin, Chastin & Marcus Stautz and Brooke & Makayla Newsom; one great, great grandson, Greyson Stautz, as well as other close family and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation or to the charity of one’s choice.
