Pedro “Pete” Vega

Pedro Munoz Vega was born on June 29, 1940 in Charlotte, Texas to Miguel Vega and Crecencia (Munoz) Vega. He was united in marriage to Minerva “Minnie” Gaitan on May 28, 1965 in Charlotte. Throughout his lifetime, Pedro worked in the oil field industry and for the last 35 years, owned and operated Diamond P Lease and Well Service. Pedro was proud to have served the Central, East and South Texas area.

Pedro was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dime Box where he volunteered his time and equipment for many projects which improved the grounds and facilities. He was a true philanthropist who contributed his time and finances to help those in need. His love for others equaled his love for giving, which was demonstrated through his willingness to contribute to various community organizations. Pedro also had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to his cattle and ranching, which he shared with his friends and especially with his beloved grandsons.

Pedro passed away during the early morning hours of Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home in Dime Box. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and for his hard work ethic, as well as a supportive employer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Crecencia Vega; two sisters, Esperanza Zuniga and Alicia Medrano, and two brothers, Arturo Vega and Ralph Vega.

Pedro is survived by his wife, Minnie Vega of Dime Box; two daughters, Ida Marie Schuman & her husband, John of Dime Box and Mary Alice Vega of Dime Box; two grandsons, John Anthony Schuman and James Michael Schuman both of Dime Box; four sisters, Ofelia Salazar of San Antonio, Oralia Perez of Dime Box, Inez Gallegos of San Antonio and Gloria Briseno of Dime Box; three brothers, Reynaldo Vega of San Antonio, Mike Vega of Asherton and Oscar Vega of Charlotte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were June 15, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dime Box with Father Ramon Frayna & Father Joseph Nisari officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Dime Box.

Serving as pallbearers were Tino Tovar, Johnny Gonzales, Sabas Villesca, Joe Orocio, Royce Lamb and Steve Gonzales
