Amanda Louise Urban

Amanda Louise (Jenke) Urban was born on April 19, 1924 in Bastrop County, Texas to Otto Emil Jenke & Louise Anna (Eschberger) Jenke. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas on May 4, 1924 by Rev. William Seidel and confirmed there as well on April 10, 1938 by Rev. A.F. Michalk.

Amanda attended school in the Long Branch community and at Trinity Lutheran School in Fedor. She was united in marriage to Alfred Emil Urban on November 14, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor by Rev. A.F. Michalk. Their union was blessed with five children, Henry, Reinhold, Alfred Jr., Helen and Allan. Amanda was a loving and devoted homemaker and caregiver her entire life. She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church where she helped to sew quilt tops for the LWML’s Lutheran World Relief. She loved her family, animals, gardening and taking care of others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto & Louise Jenke; her husband of 43 years, Alfred “Jim” Urban Sr.; her son, Alfred “Fritz” Urban Jr. and her great granddaughter, Kaylee Urban.

Amanda is survived by her four children, Henry Urban & his wife, Joyce of Paige, Reinhold Urban of Manheim, Helen Galipp & her husband, Paul of Schulenburg and Allan Urban of Giddings & his wife, Linda of Leander; her daughter-in-law, Donna Urban of Houston; nine grandchildren, Rodney Urban & his wife, Lenora of Houston, Michael Urban & his wife, Shea of Paige, Cheryl Adams & her husband, Bo of Schulenburg, Candy Carter & her husband, Randy of Houston, Michelle Zapalac & her husband, Barry of Cedar Park, Jaime Rainosek & her husband, Brian of Flatonia, Rachel Urban of Austin, Sarah Urban of Leander and David Urban & his fiancee, Morgan Hiser of Hutto; nine great grandchildren, Christopher Urban of Houston, Alexis Moore & Ryan Urban of Paige, Kambri & Kieryn Adams of Schulenburg, Cassidy & Casey Carter of Houston and Caleb & Jacob Zapalac of Cedar Park; her sister, Annie Schulz of Paige; her sister-in-law, Dalia Markert of Victoria, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Urban, Michael Urban, David Urban, Bo Adams, Randy Carter, Barry Zapalac and Brian Rainosek. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Urban, Ryan Urban, Caleb Zapalac and Jacob Zapalac.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim with Rev. Herb Keistman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
