Nancy La Rue Watson

Nancy La Rue Watson was born September 27, 1926 in Milam County to Willie W. and Nancy Jane (McFarlin) Delvige. She was raised in the Florence Community near Adina in Lee County. She was her high school class Valedictorian and then earned her Business Degree certificate. La Rue worked in the Lexington State Bank from 1975 to 1977 and from 1977 to 1987 in Lexington I.S.D. as Tax Collector, but her favorite job was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. On December 16, 1947 she and Hubert Preston Watson were married in Rockdale. She was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church and the Eastern Star. La Rue loved to cook, work in her yard and collect her treasures of salt and pepper shakers and bells.

La Rue passed away Thursday morning, February 19, 2015 at her home in Forest Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Preston Watson on October 1, 1995; her parents; two brothers, O.C. Delvige and Don Delvige and two sisters, Zelma Brinkmeyer and Alene Rowland.

Surviving are her daughters, Mary Margaret Ross and husband Ray of Rockdale, and Cynthia Kay Saegert and husband James of Rockdale; her sister, Willie Mae Morgan of Austin; four granddaughters, Meredith Ross, Allison Ross, Elizabeth Saegert and Erica Saegert and sister-in-law, Ruth Delvige of Westminster, Colorado.

Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 in the Forest Grove Christian Church. Burial followed in the Forest Grove Cemetery. Pastor Lance Walch officiated.

Pallbearers were Travis Crim, Hollins Spence, Bob Hasselbush, Davis Edwards, Jim Delvige and Ronnie Rowland.
