Jackie Lee Johnson

Jackie Lee Johnson, 93 of Blue and Austin, Texas, passed away at her home in Blue on Saturday, November 22, 2014, with her family at her side. She was born September 1, 1921, in Breckenridge, Texas to John Elmer Stearns and Lee Ella Blanton Stearns. Her family moved to Austin in 1930. She married the love of her life, Harry Edward Johnson on November 16, 1944.

She was very proud of being a, ‘Daughter of the Republic of Texas’, as was her Mother. She graduated from Austin High School, then attended the University of Texas and Durham Business College. She was a, ‘Red Hat Lady’, of Lexington, which she enjoyed so much! Her most loved membership was with 2 of her daughters, Laurie and Jenny, as one of her, “Three Musketeers”; taking short trips together and laughing….a lot!

She was always ready for an adventure. When someone asked if she was up for an excursion, she was ready to go….. Even at 84, she was adamant about doing anything she had not done before… snorkeling, kayaking, riding on a Sea Doo….she wanted to try.

She did everything her way……even her exit.

Jackie Lee was a strong willed woman in a man’s world.

She will be missed……and admired.

She is survived by son, John Edward Johnson of Sealy, Texas, son, James Lee Johnson and daughter, Suzanne Kay Ivy of Bastrop, Texas, daughter, Linda Marie Arnold of Austin, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Charles Johnson and wife, Stephanie of Austin, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Laurie Dea and Stephen Blok of Lexington (Blue), Texas , and daughter, Jenny Lu (Jones) Johnson, of Lexington (Blue), Texas and her fiancé, Rett Scudder of Austin, Texas; a nephew, Joel and Kim Stearns of Austin, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Ron Ross of Indiana; 24 Grandchildren; 25 Great- Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great- Grandchildren, Great Nieces and Nephews from Texas and Indiana.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Lexington United Methodist Church, at 508 Rockdale Street, Lexington, Texas, on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at 1:00pm.
