Daniel Ramos Jr.

Funeral services for Daniel Ramos Jr., 51 of Manor, Texas, were held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings with Father James Olnhausen officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Daniel passed away the evening of Friday, November 28, 2014, with his family by his side, at the Christopher House in Austin following a battle with cancer.

Daniel Ramos Jr. was born on August 20, 1963 in Cameron, Texas to Daniel Valdez Ramos Sr. and Mary Basquez Ramos. He graduated from Giddings High School and was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings. Daniel was united in marriage to Kathy Preece on February 2, 2002 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Ralph W. Lien. He worked several years at the Giddings State School and had been employed as a dispatcher supervisor with Central Freight Lines until his health began to decline. Daniel enjoyed hunting, collecting guns and knives, and barbecuing. He was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Ramos Sr., his brother, Arthur Ramos and his mother-in-law, Isabelle Jeanne Hill.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Kathy Ramos of Manor; his daughter, Amanda Apperley & her husband, Mike of Cedar Park; two grandchildren, Madeleine (his precious angel) & Holden (his angel boy) Apperley of Cedar Park; his mother, Mary Ramos of Giddings; his sister, Rosie Becerra & her husband, Ernest of Giddings; his two brothers, Nick Ramos & his wife, Beverly of Giddings and Phillip Ramos of Giddings; his father-in-law, Tinker Hill of Austin; his sister-in-law, Denise Glaze of Austin; his brother-in-law, Mike Hill & his wife, Lynn of Austin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers were David Posas, Dr. Jimmy Stewart, Nick Ramos, Phillip Ramos, Benjamin Ramos and Stanley Richardson. Honorary pallbearers were Fabian Becerra, Phillip Ramos Jr., Danny Morris and Gary Gerdes.
