Lawrence Gay “L.G.” Hooper

Lawrence Gay “L.G.” Hooper, 82, of Lexington was born on December 9, 1931 in Lee County, Texas to Lawrence McDonald Hooper and Hazel Temperance (Gay) Hooper. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Ann Ricketson on July 5, 1957 in Lexington. L.G. and Charlotte owned and operated the Lexington Mercantile for many years. He was a traditional man and a good provider for his family. He enjoyed the contacts he had with the community while he operated the Lexington Mercantile. L.G. passed away during the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Copperas Hollow Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Caldwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his great grandson, Conner Lee Hooper and three sisters, Margorie White, Marie Kotrla and Margaret Bryan.

L.G. is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hooper of Lexington; his four children, Gayle Daniels & Rob Caldwell of Austin, Jeffrey & Melody Hooper of Lexington, Rebecca & Rick Green of Lexington and Russell & Kathy Hooper of Dayton; his grandchildren, Andrew Hooper, Misty Aderhold, Jeff Borho, Chance Green, Jacob Green, Daniel Green, Angie Green, Zachary Hooper, Cori Clark and Zachariah Clark; his great grandchildren, Keagan Green, Kensley Green, Kelton Green, Corbin Hooper, Ava Banks, Katlyn Aderhold and Kobe Aderhold; his two sisters, Earline Peterson & her husband, Carl of Lexington and Judy Mundine of Cedar Park and a brother, Ernest Hooper & his wife, Irene of New Hampshire.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Lexington Cemetery with Tim Pitts officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
