Linda Marie McCoy

September 9, 1947 - March 22, 2014

Linda Marie Gipson McCoy was born on September 9, 1947 in Abilene, Texas to L.T. and Kelera Marie (Anderson) Gipson. She was united in marriage to James Rodway “Rod” McCoy on February 6, 1968 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was retired from the State of Texas where she had worked in the account department of the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Linda had been a member of the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Posse and the First United Methodist Church in Giddings. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends and attending and supporting her grandchildren in their various school and sporting events.

Linda passed away, surrounded by her family, during the early morning hours of Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Giddings following a battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rod McCoy and her grandson, Devon McCoy.

Linda is survived by her two sons and daughters-inlaw, Vince and Nicole McCoy and Randy and Tonya McCoy all of Giddings; four grandchildren, Tyler McCoy, Douglas McCoy, Bryce MCoy and Amber McCoy all of Giddings; three sisters, Kathy Tomas of Giddings, Donna Yow & her husband, Jimmy of Centerville and Kay Neuse of Austin; two brothers, Randy Gipson & his wife, Judy of Bryan and Terry Gipson of Freeport; sister-in-law, Mickey Hampton of San Antonio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Giddings with Pastor Timothy Edwards officiating. Graveside services will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rudy Lopez, Cameron Lopez, Johnny Joe Olivares, Johnny Tomas Jr., David Tomas and Matt Tomas.

Memorials may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice, 1048 North Jefferson, La Grange, Texas 78945, the Lee County Cancer Resource Center, 165 West Austin Street, Giddings, Texas or to the charity of one’s choice.
