Gertrude Amanda Gruetzner

October 24, 1919 - March 20, 2014

Gertrude Amanda (Beisert) Gruetzner was born on October 24, 1919 in Loebau, Texas to John and Selma Beisert. She was baptized and confirmed at the Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas. She was united in marriage to Alfred Gruetzner on September 13, 1938 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. They moved to Houston where she worked at Dixie Cone for 25 years. She and Alfred were blessed with two sons, James and Harry Gruetzner. Gertrude enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family fishing at Lake Somerville. She was devoted to her son, grandson and great granddaughter.

Gertrude passed away the evening of Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Gruetzner; her son, James Gruetzner; her five brothers, Albert, Martin, Edwin, Walter and Oscar Beisert and 2 sisters, Edna Beisert Reuther and Olga Beisert Iselt.

Gertrude will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Diane Gruetzner; grandson and wife, Clayton and Kathy Gruetzner and by her great granddaughter, Hailey Gruetzner all from Houston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas with Rev. Paul Hartfield officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hilbert Beisert, Eugene Iselt, Ricky Iselt, Eugene Gruetzner, Billy Beisert, and Otis Kasper. Honorary pallbearer was Larry Gruetzner.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
