Helen Douglass Nash

July 27, 1916 - January 13, 2014

Helen Douglass Nash was born on July 27, 1916 in Lexington, Texas to Willie Shaw & Maggie Mae (Rutland) Douglass. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1934 and was united in marriage to Lewis A. Nash on October 31, 1935 in Houston, Texas. Lewis was employed as a golf pro at several Houston area country clubs where Helen assisted him by doing bookkeeping and working in the pro shops. Following their retirement, they moved back to Lexington. Helen was a longtime member of the Lexington United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and was an excellent cook. She will always be remembered as the “glue that held it all together” in her family.

Helen passed away the evening of Monday, January 13, 2014 at the SPJST Rest Home in Taylor, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis Nash and her two sisters, Berniece Tucker and Anne Nelius.

Helen is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim & Carol Nash of Lexington and Lew & Chris Nash of Tomball; four grandchildren, Chris Nash of Texas City, Terri Silvers & her husband, Jimmie of Manvel, Capt. Doug Nash who is stationed in San Diego, California and Megan Nash of Tomball; five great grandchildren, Trey Silvers and Zach Silvers both of Temple and Brody Nash, Cale Nash and Ava Nash all of Tomball, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Helen Nash, 97, of Lexington, Texas were on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Lexington Cemetery with Pastor Michael Peschke officiating.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Trey Silvers, Zach Silvers, Robert Ahrendt, Kevin Ahrendt, Crystalyn Keating, Cory Robertson, Chad Robertson and Chase Ahrendt.
