Darrell Rodgers

November 6, 1936 - January 14, 2014

Darrell Rodgers was born November 6, 1936 in Lexington to Harry Luther and Bessie (Shaver) Rodgers. He was raised in the Vidor area and had lived in Cleveland and Temple before moving back to Lexington.

Darrell was a cabinet maker and a contractor building homes and making anything with wood.

On August 17, 1984, he and Phyllis Marcum were married in the Lexington Faith Temple Church. Darrell enjoyed working in his woodworking shop, trail rides, his dogs, dancing, playing pool and riding his motorcycle, especially his trip to New Mexico and southern Colorado. He enjoyed being outdoors and he never knew a stranger.

Darrell passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Copperas Hollow Nursing Center in Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Garlan Dale Rodgers.

Surviving are; His wife, Phyllis Rodgers of Lexington; Sons, Larry Rodgers and wife Kimberly of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Lesley Rodgers and wife Kimberly of Bryan; Daughters, Kathy Wales and husband Glenn of Buna and Kimberly Schrader of Grand Prairie; Brothers, Bobby Rodgers and wife Jan of Lexington and Jacky Rodgers and wife Jeanean of Orange; Sisters, Diane Tutt and husband Bill of Robinson and Kaye Revia and husband Alford of Zavalla; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 greatgreat grandchildren.

Services for Darrell Rodgers, 77 of Lexington were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Lexington Faith Temple Church. Burial followed in the Lexington Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Richter and Rev. Robert Stephens officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were Glenn Wales, Kerry Bexley, Marcus Brocato, Aaron Revia, Blane Rodgers, Daniel Rodgers, David Rodgers, Jason Rodgers, Jared Rodgers, and Jeff McManus.

Honorary pallbearers were Butch Schrader, Ed Valentine and Colby Bexley.
