Royce Noel Peschke

December 10, 1933 - January 3, 2014

Royce was born to Willie R. and Olga (Mosebach) Peschke on December 10, 1933 in the Grassyville community, Bastrop County, Texas. He was Baptized on April 22, 1934 and Confirmed on March 28, 1948. Royce served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, attaining the rank of Spec. 3. He was married to Arlene Stahmer by Rev. Raymond Durst on June 21, 1959 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rutersville. He was employed for 36 years by Bluebonnet Electric as a lineman. Royce was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, was a member of the Sons of Herman in Plum, Texas for 52 years, was a member of the Woodsman of the World, and was very active in Martin Luther Lutheran Church’s Men in Mission. He enjoyed puzzles, dominoes, cattle, dancing and listening to polkas and waltzes, gardening and flowers, reading old Western novels, and making his homemade sausage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Olga Peschke, his brother, Nathaniel Peschke, 3 infant brothers, 3 brothers-in-law, Walter Stahmer, Walter Markert, and Leon Harbers, father and mother-in-law, John and Edna (Mueller) Stahmer, and a nephew, Nathan Peschke.

Royce is survived by his wife, Arlene Peschke of Paige, his 3 children, Karen and husband, Victor Gonzales of Giddings, Delynn and wife, Dana Peschke of Giddings, and Rachel and husband, Dickie Jones of Cleburne, 6 grandchildren, Amanda and husband, Alan Dock of Bryan, Vinson Gonzales, Ryan Peschke, Mikayla Peschke, all of Giddings, David Jones and Natalie Jones of Cleburne, a sister, Carolyn Markert of Giddings, sisters-in-law, Betty and husband, Jim Duke of Paige, Genelda Stahmer and Myrtle Harbers, both of La Grange, brother-in-law, John W. and wife, Nancy Stahmer of Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Royce Noel Peschke, of Paige, died Friday evening, January 3, 2014, at South Austin Medical Center at the age of 80 years. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Giddings, Texas, and interment in Giddings City Cemetery followed.

Serving as Pallbearers were Vinson Gonzales, David Jones, Ryan Peschke, Alan Dock, Ronald Peschke, and Clay Cook. Honorary Pallbearers were the employees of Giddings Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.

Memorials may be made to Martin Luther Lutheran Church or to the Lee County Cancer Society.
