Irene Victoria Grimm

April 21, 1928 - December 14, 2013

Irene Victoria (Milburn) Grimm was born on April 21, 1928 in Giddings, Lee County, Texas, the daughter of Richard & Erna (Seelke) Milburn. She was baptized on June 10, 1928 by Rev. William Mueller at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. She attended school in Giddings and was confirmed on November 1, 1942 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Walter Tillman. Her confirmation verse was Matthew 10:32, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven”.

On November 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edwin Grimm at Martin Luther Lutheran Church by Rev. S.T. Schroeder. Their lives were blessed with two children. Irene and Edwin lived their entire lives farming and ranching in Giddings. She enjoyed working on the farm, helping out at church with quilting, and working in her garden. She also enjoyed taking care of her dogs and chickens.

Irene entered into her Savior’s arms the morning of December 14, 2013 at her home in Giddings following a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin; an infant son, Miles; seven sisters, Inez Hill, Dorothy Mae Milburn, Nora Hohle, Clara Kruemcke, Ann Farr, Leona Hannes and Lois Marburger, and four brothers, Joe Milburn, Grady Milburn, Richard Milburn and Malcolm Milburn.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Billig of Giddings; one sister, Mildred Wiederhold of Dime Box; two grandchildren, Joseph Billig & his wife, Amy of Giddings and Krystal Lilley & her husband, Kristopher of Lumberton; three great grandchildren Keith, Karsci & Khloe Lilley of Lumberton and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Dwane Wiederhold, Billy Ray Milburn, Mark Milburn, Matthew Grimm, Mike Grimm and Darrell Grimm.

Memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, the General Fund at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings or to the charity of one’s choice.
