Holly Dodd Orsag

December 15, 1978 - October 19, 2013

Holly Michele (Dodd) Orsag was born into this world on December 15, 1978 in Houston, Texas to Fred & Iris (Spitzenberger) Dodd. She was baptized into the Christian faith on February 18, 1979 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Fred Mgebroff. She renewed her faith through Confirmation on April 4, 1993 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Holly graduated from Giddings High School and received her Degree in English from Texas A & M University. She and Darren Orsag were married on November 22, 2003. She had been employed as the Day School Director for Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings and was currently employed as a communications specialist with Bluebonnet Electric.

Above all else, Holly was a loving and devoted mother to her two daughters, Natalie and Neely. The greatest gift she gave her children was the same inner strength and positive attitude that she maintained throughout her battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She did not let her disease define her as a mother and she refused to allow it to influence her time with her young daughters. Holly’s decision to maintain a selfless and positive attitude throughout her fight helped Natalie and Neely to remain happy, well adjusted little girls and allowed those around her to share in her hope and determination. As Holly began to realize that she was not going to be able to watch her girls grow up into adults, she made sure she made the most out of the time that they had and made a lifetime of memories in the short time that they had left together.

Throughout her life, Holly was an amazing servant of the Lord. Even throughout her three year battle with cancer, her faith was unwavering and she never questioned God’s plan for her. She was able to maintain a positive attitude throughout her fight through her faith and in her confidence that her faith would result in eternal life with her Heavenly Father. She had no worries or fear about the future, for she knew what the reward was that she had waiting for her. Even in the last days of her life, when her body began to reflect the ugliness of cancer, she once again refused to give in and continued to radiate only beauty and the glory of God.

Holly received her reward from God and entered into eternal life the evening of Saturday, October 19, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul & Leona Spitzenberger and Betty Dodd.

Holly is survived by her husband and daughters, Darren, Natalie & Neely Orsag of Giddings; her parents, Fred & Iris Dodd of Giddings; her sister, Becky (Dodd) Cowen & her husband, Jeff of Giddings; her grandparents, Bert & Katie Dodd of Giddings; her parents-in-law, Larry & Donna Orsag of Giddings; her sister-in-law, Amy Blackburn & her husband, Matt of Belton; her brothers-in-law, David Orsag & his wife, Hope of Belton and Andrew Orsag of College Station; her grandmothers-in-law, Elder B. Orsag of Lexington and Anna Beth Fain of Llano; four nieces; four nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and her many friends and supporters who were blessed to share her too-short life with her, especially her Bluebonnet Electric family.

Services to celebrate the victory of Holly’s eternal life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Committal services will immediately follow at the Germania Cemetery in Lexington, Texas.

Following the committal service, the Orsag family would like to invite everyone to share their memories of Holly at a reception located at the American Legion Hall in Lexington.

In an effort to respect Holly’s wishes for simplicity, in lieu of flowers, a benefit fund has been set up for the future expenses for Natalie & Neely at www.youcaring.com/orsagfamily and memorials may also be given to the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Day School Fund.
