Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Lady Eagles are doing just fine in the District 22AA volleyball race. They are undefeated, with two games left in the first round. What an unexpected pleasure these girls have been so far.

The Eagles have an open date, to get regrouped, repaired, and replenished, so they can make a run at making the playoffs this season. The rest of the district should be easier than most of the teams they have played thus far.

The Cowboys’ defense is no better than last year’s, and the offense is so inconsistent. They can be great one game, and look like a junior high team the next. The ‘Boys’ stole defeat from the jaws of victory Sunday.

The Texans are an enigma. They were supposed to be a Super Bowl team this season. They look more like they are ready for the Tidy Bowl, instead.

Johnny Football saved the Aggies again this week with his magic. He flung the ball into the end zone and his 6’5” receiver went up and caught the ball in a crowd.

The UT folks are still a little uneasy. It is fun to read Kirk Bohls and Cedric Golden try to make the Horns successful. Texas was a world beater after dusting New Mexico State and Kansas State, according to those two. The duo was critical of the Horns after the loss to Mississippi and BYU.
