Lady Eagles Jolt Jarrell
Lexington started off a little lethargically in their match against Jarrell last Friday. The week’s homecoming activities had caused a little loss of focus. But once Lexington got slapped with the reality that Jarrell could, and did, beat them in the first game, they got focused quickly, to win the match in four games 18-25, 25-16, 25-15, and 25-15. The win makes Lexington 5-0 in District 22-AA play, and the only undefeated team in the district.
Game 1- Lexington started off slow, hitting balls into the net, letting Jarrell hit the open spots in the defense, and not moving their feet to get in position. Late in the game, the Lady Eagles started to get their game back to normal.
Game 2- Lexington’s conditioning started to pay off late in this game. With the score at 21- 19, Kristen Boettcher stepped to the service line and launched four straight aces to end the game.
Game 3- The Lady Eagles were even for a short time, then pulled away for the win. The final point came as Jarrell set the ball on the Lexington side of the net and Boettcher hammered it home, ending the game.
Game 4-Lexington took the lead early, and held it the rest of the game. This game ended with a perfect set for Meghann Wrinkle to slam home to win the game, leaving the Lady Eagles undefeated in district action.
The Lady Eagles racked up the following stats in this game: Karsen Ross had four assists, 13 kills, one ace and 12 digs; Krista Lerche had 23 assists, one kill, six aces and eight digs; Meghann Wrinkle had seven kills and nine digs; Mary Beth Ross had six kills, three blocks and one dig; Kristen Boettcher had eight kills, five aces and nine digs; Mikayla Daniels had two kills and one block; and Madison Bexley had three aces and 22 digs.
The Lady Eagle Freshmen lost 19-25, 16-25 in their match.
