7th Grade Football

by David Meyer

The young Eagles opened up district play by defeating the Jarrell Cougars last Thursday afternoon 14-0. Offensively, the young Eagles took control with a strong rushing attack. The offensive line cleared the way for leading rusher, JaKobe Cooper, with 82 yards for the afternoon.

The young Eagles’ first score was a 48-yard completion from Caleb Meyer to Jordan Kerr for an Eagle touchdown. Meyer then crossed over for the conversion.

Lexington put together another long drive, ending in a 2-yard run by Meyer for the second score.

Defensively, the Eagles played Lights Out led by Jordan Cranston, Zachary Thornton and Cade Hawley up front with several tackles each. The entire defense played tough, causing two turnovers, an interception by Clay Boettcher, and a fumble recovery by Christian Wilson. These young Eagles are 2-1 for the season and continue to achieve the goal of every young Eagle…..to play under the Friday Night Lights.
