Elton Charles Schautschick

March 11, 1950 - September 17, 2013

Elton Charles Schautschick was born on March 11, 1950 in Bastrop County, Texas to Erwin Albert & Louise Lydia (Lehmann) Schautschick. He was baptized on March 26, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas by Rev. Arthur Arndt and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. His confirmation verse was John 8:12, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Elton graduated from Giddings High School in 1968 and served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in the United States and Korea. He had been employed as a Bridge Mechanic for the Santa Fe Railroad and enjoyed reading and watching movies and television. He especially enjoyed watching the Longhorns, Cowboys and Rangers games.

Elton was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Denty Moore and James Rainey and a nephew, Brent Bamsch.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie & Brian Berrios of Bastrop; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Berrios and Max Berrios both of Bastrop; his three sisters, Eleanor Krause & her husband, Monroe of Pflugerville, Carolyn Bamsch & her husband Ralph of Warda and Janice Rainey of Sanger; one niece, four nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Neil Bockelmann officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Elton passed away the afternoon of Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the College Station Medical Center.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
