Edward “E.E.” Eugene Centers
Edward Eugene Centers was born on August 10, 1923 in Hillsboro, Illinois to Phillip & Bertha (Pepper) Centers. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was united in marriage to Loraine Pruns on March 25, 1946 in Galveston, Texas. He retired from Union Carbide where he had worked in shipping. Mr. Centers enjoyed taking care of his farm and animals, eating ice cream, driving around in his golf cart and watching boxing. He was a true handyman who built three of his homes himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Mr. Centers is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane & Joe Gibson of Utah; his son, Phillip E. Centers of Bastrop; grandchildren, Jay Gibson & his wife, Stacy of Utah, Casey Gibson of Utah, Becky Heiner & her husband, Shawn of Utah, Jordan Centers (who is graduating from UTI in Houston) & his wife, Victoria of Houston and Blake Centers who is serving in the Army and stationed in Kentucky; great grandchildren, Zachary Gibson, Tyson Gibson, Madison Gibson and Hailee Heiner all of Utah and special friends, Horace & Elvira Farrack of Austin.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Ridgeway Cemetery in Paige, Texas with Rev. Lee Eschberger officiating.
Mr. Centers passed away during the early morning hours of Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Bastrop Nursing Center.
