Anna Mae Witte

December 1, 1919 - September 3, 2013

Anna Mae Bridges Witte was born on December 1, 1919 in Dime Box, Texas to Willie Carlyle “C.W” & Cora Mae (McClellan) Bridges. She was united in marriage to Eddie Gustav Witte on August 9, 1936 in Bastrop, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Diana, Edward and Royce. Anna Mae and Eddie owned and operated the Witte Cotton Gin in Giddings for many years. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings, where she had been a member of the Ladies Aid and also been a volunteer with Rejuvenation in Giddings. She always looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren and adored being around small children. She enjoyed fishing, picking dewberries and cooking for her family. Many will remember her for sitting on her front porch and watching the traffic go by.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Cora Bridges; her husband of 58 years, Eddie Witte; her daughter and son-inlaw, Diana & Vernon Dungan; her son, Royce Witte; her granddaughter, LaShelle Witte; her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia & Herbert Conrad and her brothers and sister-in-law, Wilson & Marie Bridges, Curtis Bridges and Harold Bridges.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward & Dorothy Witte of Lincoln; her daughter-in-law, Rose Witte of Giddings; nine grandchildren, Dana Christopher & her husband, Dee of Oklahoma, Gordon Dungan & his wife, Laura of Harker Heights, James Dungan & his wife, Christie of Katy, David Witte & his wife, Lea of College Station, Harold Witte & his wife, Elizabeth of Fulshear, Deborah Hanna & her husband, Chris of Utah, Derrik Witte of Magnolia, Robyn Thompson & her husband, Jeremy of Belton and Cameron Witte & his wife, Heidi of Kansas; fourteen great grandchildren, Laurin Nadon, John Christopher, Kyle Christopher, Reed Dungan, Micala Dungan, Zachary Dungan, Emma Dungan, Bryan Witte, Jack Witte, Madison Hanna, Liam Hanna, Alyssa Witte, Joshua Thompson and Hope Thompson; three great, great granddaughters, Kailyn Witte, Avery Witte and Harper Nadon; sister-in-law, Alice Bridges of Austin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Derrik Witte, Cameron Witte, David Witte, Harold Witte, Gordon Dungan, James Dungan, Dee Christopher, Jeremy Thompson and Chris Hanna.

Mrs. Witte passed away the morning of Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at her home in Giddings.
